Job summary

The Select Genetics Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Raeford, NC seeks a full-time Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Technician to support necropsies, conduct tests, and report results while upholding biosecurity and safety standards.

You will work with veterinarians and lab staff to perform ELISA, PCR, bacterial culture, and other diagnostics, maintain equipment, and help with field sample collection and research projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s in Animal Science or related field preferred.
• Experience in animal agriculture or poultry industry strongly desired.
• Familiarity with poultry anatomy and terminology preferred.
• Experience with ELISA, PCR, and culture techniques is a plus.
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
• Excellent communication and time management abilities.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Proficient in English reading/writing and basic MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with necropsies and sample collection.
• Set up, read, and interpret bacterial cultures and sensitivities.
• Perform ELISA serology testing and PCR testing.
• Conduct Salmonella enrichment and isolation procedures.
• Prepare media, reagents, and testing supplies; maintain inventory.
• Receive, label, and process diagnostic samples; record results timely.
• Assist with field sample collection when needed; participate in research projects.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and biosecurity; sanitize equipment.
• Follow safety regulations and document procedures accurately.
