High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience, including customer service and computer records maintenance
Job Description:
1. Loading and unloading tissue digester and working with various equipment
o Using a hoist to load and unload a tissue digester
o Cleaning the equipment
o Cleaning the coolers
o Cleaning the necropsy area with disinfectants
o Ensuring all equipment is cleaned and ready for use
2. Tissue Processing and Assisting with Necropsy
o Assisting in the necropsy and disposal process. This includes showing students basic necropsy techniques and assisting the pathologist and residents during a necropsy
o Processing patients for cremation and working closely with outside cremation companies
o Participates in infectious disease necropsies and taking samples to the Alachua County Health Department when needed
o Sharpening knives with a wet stone and steel
o Preparing various chemical solutions
3. Customer assistance and administrative support
o Working with computers (scanning inventory) and bagging tissue
o Receive submission paperwork and accession into computer system.
o Stocking lab areas with specific supplies when needed
o Talking to potential and current clients to assess needs and resolve issues
o Adhering to procedures to maintain our Quality Management System requirements
4. Other duties as assigned
$15.00-$16.50/hour
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor degree preferred; experience working with animals; experience working in a Necropsy Laboratory

This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available. This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.
