Job summary

VRCCO seeks a Criticalist to lead the Emergency and Patient Care team, delivering advanced critical care and anesthesia management for critically ill or injured animals. You will mentor interns, residents, and staff, participate in daily rounds, and develop protocols to optimize outcomes.

You will collaborate with specialty services, ensure rigorous documentation, and communicate clearly with pet owners and referring veterinarians, in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• DVM degree and board certification in veterinary emergency and critical care or eligible for certification.
• Minimum 2 years in a multi-specialty and emergency hospital setting.
• Proven leadership, teaching, and high-stress clinical management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Emergency and Patient Care team in critical care delivery and decision-making.
• Mentor interns, residents, and staff through complex cases and rounds.
• Develop and implement critical care protocols and ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
• Maintain thorough medical records and clear communication with families and referring veterinarians.
