Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College seeks a Part-Time Veterinary Technology Supervisor to provide supervision for students in veterinary technology labs, assess health status of patients, and ensure compliance with program SOPs. Role supports Veterinary Science I and II, VT courses, and related surgical nursing and imaging labs.

Ideal candidate holds a DVM or VMD and an Ohio license, with demonstrated veterinary expertise and ability to guide students in clinical settings and emergencies.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD degree required.
• Ohio license to practice veterinary medicine.
• Demonstrated proficiency in veterinary medicine.
• Experience making sound decisions affecting a work unit.
• Experience solving diverse problems in various situations.
• Willingness to interact with staff to ensure satisfactory patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise veterinary technology students during client care in listed classes.
• Perform medical/dental/surgical assessments of patients.
• Authorize staff and students to treat patients.
• Manage emergencies and ensure safety of procedures.
• Interpret radiographs and consult with students on radiographs, pharmacology, surgery.
• Authorize medications and provide post-surgical care; handle controlled drugs as needed.
• Observe and sign off on essential skills for graduation per SOPs.
• Maintain controlled drug log per DEA regulations.
• Follow USDA, IACUC, AVMA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
