Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to support the veterinary team in delivering excellent care for pets. You will prepare treatment rooms, assist with examinations, perform basic in-house tests, and help educate clients on preventive care and wellness plans.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills, with a focus on patient comfort and smooth clinic operations, including weekend and evening hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances.
• One year related experience required with customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical items and supplies.
• Set up fecals, smears, and skin scrapings as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Provide client education regarding preventive care and wellness plans.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients and maintain cleanliness of cages and equipment.
• Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain hospital cleanliness as outlined by protocols.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
