Job summary

Banfield in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and team members in delivering high-quality pet care. You will participate in patient flow, client education, and care procedures that do not require direct clinician involvement.

Must have NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant training or equivalent, with a preference for a high school diploma and at least 18 for radiography duties. Prior customer service experience is favored.

Qualifications

• Certificate from NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Minimum age 18 for radiography duties.
• One year related experience with customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as extra eyes, ears, and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to ensure the best quality pet care and maximize their productivity.
• Communicate with veterinarian, veterinary technicians and all other associates to maintain patient flow.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service including performing or preparing procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services and other issues.
• Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Utilize technical skills within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals.
• Perform other assigned duties.
