Job summary

Abqpetcarehospital is seeking a veterinary assistant to be the backbone of our care team. You will help with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, restrain animals during exams, and assist with diagnostics while maintaining a clean, organized hospital area.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of veterinary clinic experience, enjoy working with animals, and be capable of lifting up to 40 lbs as needed. We value teamwork and compassionate care in a busy practice.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Self-starter who can multitask and works well in a team.
• Genuine enjoyment of working with animals, even when stressed or in pain.
• 2+ years of experience in a veterinary clinic.
• Able to meet physical demands: lift/carry up to 40 lbs, restrain animals with assistance as needed.
• Frequent standing/walking, potential bending or squatting during shifts.
• Teamwork-oriented and able to collaborate with all hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Assist with routine diagnostics (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal checks).
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
