Job summary

Haven Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate veterinary assistant to support the care team. You will help with patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, and assisting during procedures. The role requires physical stamina, reliability, and a love for animals.

Experience is a plus, but not required; training is provided to become proficient in radiology, bloodwork, and restraint under veterinary supervision. Join a caring team focused on high-quality client and patient care.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle stressed or painful patients.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Must meet physical demands: lift/carry, restrain animals up to 40 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and post-surgery care.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Assist with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Feeding and bathing animals.
• Answer phones and help clients.
