Job summary

Lake Meridian Animal Hospital in Washington is seeking a veterinary assistant to be the team’s primary support. You will assist with patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized pets, and aid in caring for animals after surgery.

You will maintain inventory and stock, restrain animals during procedures, help with diagnostic tests, sterilize instruments, clean treatment areas, and assist clients and staff. This role suits someone who loves animals and works well in a team.

Qualifications

• Must be able to multitask and work well with a team.
• Must enjoy working with animals and handle them when stressed or in pain.
• Support daily hospital operations and patient care as part of a Veterinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Monitor hospitalized pets / aid in post-surgery care
• Maintain inventory and stocking
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
• Assist with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal)
• Sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas
• Administer medications under supervision
• Feeding/bathing animals
• Answer phones
• Help clients with their pets
