Job summary

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral in Wilmington, NC is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Internist to join our growing, high-volume referral hospital.

You will provide advanced cardiology care, perform and interpret echocardiograms, ECGs, Holter monitoring, and collaborate with Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery, Oncology, Neurology, Exotics and Emergency teams to develop integrated treatment plans.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Board Certification in Cardiology (DACVIM-Cardiology) or Residency Trained in Cardiology.
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced medical and interventional cardiology care in referral, emergency, and hospitalized patients.
• Perform and interpret echocardiograms, thoracic radiographs, ECGs, and Holter/telemetry monitoring.
• Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery, Oncology, Neurology, Exotics, and Emergency teams to develop treatment plans.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities for emergency echocardiograms and catheterization procedures.
• Partner with overnight Emergency and ICU teams to ensure continuity of care for cardiac patients.
• Utilize CT, MRI, telemetry, and ultrasound to support cardiology services.
• Build trusted relationships with referring veterinarians through timely communication.
• Guide pet owners through diagnoses and treatment options with clarity and empathy.
