VCA Colonial Animal Hospital in Ithaca, NY is seeking an experienced surgery veterinary assistant to join our Surgery team full time. We are a hybrid hospital serving clients 24/7 and offer a supportive environment in a Finger Lakes setting.

Join a 17-doctor hospital that supports VTNE/licensure goals and professional growth, with opportunities to develop in a multi-disciplinary specialty and emergency care setting.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting in veterinary surgeries and anesthesia handling.
• Ability to work as part of a fast-paced surgical team.
• Strong communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Primary scrub nurse duties for surgical cases.
• Turn over OR and autoclave instruments.
• Assist LVT with surgery prep and DVM with morning SOAPs.
• Hands Free Radiology and patient discharge duties.
• Greet clients and provide patient education.

VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced surgery veterinary assistant to join our Surgery team full time.

We are a hybrid hospital and proud to be one of the premier providers of primary, specialty and emergency care located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York.

Our 17 doctor hospital serves our clients 24/7/365. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing advanced care and management of patients in a specialty setting. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Surgery Veterinary Assistant Duties Include

• Primary scrub nurse duties

• Turn over OR and autoclave instruments

• Assisting LVT with surgery prep

• Assisting DVM with morning SOAPs

• Hands Free Radiology

• Greeting clients and patient discharge

• Client education and communication

Potential Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $19 – $21 / hour dependent on experience and skill set.
