Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Stoney Creek Veterinary Hospital in Morton, Pennsylvania is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team, supporting veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks and ensuring compassionate patient care.

The role includes cleaning and maintaining equipment, assisting with exams, anesthesia prep, and administrative duties while upholding our Culture of Care and delivering exceptional service to pets and their families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Related experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, weigh patients and record vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed by licensed staff.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications or patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment (EKG, pumps, scales, monitors).
• Fill prescriptions, document medications and controlled drugs.
• Feed patients as prescribed and monitor appetites.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and treatment plans.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and proper chemical safety.
• Bath and groom patients staying overnight and ensure clean release.
• Adhere to safety and wellness regulations and follow directions from DVM/LVT.

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Related experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
