Job summary

The Trooper Veterinary Hospital in Eagleville, PA, part of PetVet Care Centers, seeks an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to support hospital operations with quality veterinary care and excellent client service. Responsibilities include patient care, exams, diagnostics, assisting during surgery, nursing care, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old to be considered.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Animal handling and restraint skills, veterinary medical knowledge, able to intubate animals, place catheters, perform dental cleaning, perform x-rays and proficient in surgical monitoring.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans and records, and diagnostic imaging.
• Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, vaccines, and wound care.
• Assist during examinations and operations by preparing supplies, restraining patients, and aiding the veterinarian.
• Provide patient care with anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, equipment usage, and drug administration.
• Obtain and verify medications for patients.
• Maintain clean rooms, cages, equipment, and observe patients for signs of illness.
• Document patient conditions and updates in medical records; communicate with owners as directed.
• Maintain inventory and sterilize instruments; ensure proper storage and shelf life.
