Job description

Carmel Road Animal Hospital welcomes pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care in our community. Our hospital boasts paperless records, in-house lab equipment, our lab capabilities, digital x-ray, a dedicated dental suite with digital dental radiography, ultrasound, and a high level of care.

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital and provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Position Skills:

  • Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and setting up for procedures or diagnostic tests.
  • Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner.
  • Obtain accurate vitals, medical histories, and note any changes in patient condition to DVM.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies.
  • Maintain all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and other essential tools.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient updates and questions.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, ability to manage stressful situations, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Pay range of $12.35-$20.90/hour based on experience.
