Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in the United States seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring safe, quality care and client education. You’ll learn and grow through development opportunities and a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities include managing patient flow, assisting with procedures, upholding hospital standards, and educating clients about preventive care and Optimum Wellness Plans. NAVTA-certified preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant tasks at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure safety and continuity of care.
• Help maintain patient flow and communicate with the team about procedures.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards for pet safety and clean facilities.
• Educate clients about preventive care and wellness plans (Optimum Wellness Plans).
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.
