Job summary

NVA General Practice in Portage, MI is seeking a veterinary assistant to support our entire team in delivering excellent client and patient care. You will assist with patient care, handle routine tasks, and help maintain a clean, organized hospital environment.

Ideal candidates are reliable, able to multitask, and comfortable working with animals in various emotional states. Prior experience is a plus, but a positive attitude and teamwork are most valued.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle stressed, ill, or in-pain animals.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Able to lift 40 lbs and restrain animals with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets / monitor/aid in post-surgery care.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal reading).
• Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Answering phones and providing customer service.
• Helping clients with their pets.
