Cheyenne Mountain Animal Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO.

Our team is equipped with advanced technology and services to keep our patients happy, healthy, and safe while they are in our care. We always strive to meet the various needs of our patients.

Our Veterinary Assistants support the veterinarian and veterinary technician as directed in various hospital areas and provide professional, efficient client service. This dynamic position requires flexibility, compassion, and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will love animals, have excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This is a part-time position; Days are Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays available.

Pay rate: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

We seek a candidate who embraces our core values and demonstrates the qualifications listed below.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Prepare exam rooms and assist during appointments with doctors.
  2. Take history from clients, perform physical assessments, and record observations legibly in medical records.
  3. Educate clients on preventive healthcare and provide follow-up.
  4. Communicate patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
  5. Perform venipuncture, conduct in-house laboratory tests, prepare forms for outside labs, and communicate results to owners as requested.
  6. Provide and monitor nursing care, including medication administration and patient monitoring.
  7. Admit and discharge patients, following protocols and educating clients accordingly.
  8. Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital wards.
  9. Proficiently use practice software for medication dispensing, record keeping, and labeling.
  10. Understand and enforce OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  11. Perform client callbacks and updates.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or similar setting preferred.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  3. Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
  4. Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
  5. Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  8. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Willingness to learn and follow directions from veterinarians and staff.
  10. Compassionate and a genuine love for animals.
