Small Door in Boston is seeking an experienced veterinary assistant to join our collaborative, Fear Free practice. You will support doctors, record vitals, perform in-house lab work, radiography prep, and prepare medications while delivering compassionate care to our patients.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years as a veterinary assistant, is comfortable with computers, can lift 50 lbs, and is available for weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Availability to work weekends (Saturdays).
• Comfortable with computers and online tools.
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses.
• Assess patients.
• Record vitals and assist doctors with diagnostics.
• Complete treatments as instructed by the doctor.
• Provide basic husbandry and nursing care.
• Monitor changes and ensure compassionate care.
• Assist in radiography capture.
• Prepare samples for outside reference labs.
• Run in-house labs.
• Prepare and administer medications.
• Support tele-triage shifts (additional stipend).
• Maintain a hospitable environment.

What you’ll do
