Pendleton Veterinary Clinic is a general practice clinic located in Pendleton, Oregon. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Our team consists of compassionate veterinary professionals, including Urgent Care and General Practice veterinarians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Customer Service representatives. We work cohesively to provide quality, compassionate care to our community because we love what we do.

We are a full-service hospital equipped with in-house diagnostics, digital radiology (including dental), ultrasonography, an onsite pharmacy, and a state-of-the-art surgical suite. Our clients are loyal, and we maintain a high retention rate in both our general practice and urgent care services.

Position: Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a qualified Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide compassionate care to patients and clients, demonstrating excellent customer service.
  2. Accurately maintain medical records in Avimark.
  3. Handle incoming calls efficiently, check clients in/out, and address their needs.
  4. Prepare and maintain exam rooms, lobby, and treatment areas.
  5. Work collaboratively to ensure timely and adequate care for all clients and patients.
  6. Effectively restrain pets, including aggressive or large animals.
  7. Understand vaccination protocols and explain them to clients.
  8. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, including completing weekly cleaning duties.
  9. Handle client medical questions confidently and refer to veterinarians when appropriate.
  10. Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments.
  11. Administer SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  12. Explain follow-up and homecare instructions to clients.
  13. Understand medication usage, dosage, and side effects, and communicate this to clients.
  14. Recognize common emergency symptoms and assist in triaging patients.
  15. Assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures, including anesthesia and monitoring.
  16. Care for surgical materials and maintain the operating room.
  17. Perform emergency procedures under supervision.
  18. Conduct clinical laboratory procedures and maintain records.
  19. Position for and take radiographs.
  20. Place and care for IV catheters, understanding the use of IV pumps.
  21. Monitor hospitalized patients for changes in health status.
  22. Prepare patients and equipment for ultrasound procedures.
  23. Admit and discharge patients following hospital policies and veterinarian orders.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Experience with Avimark software (preferred but not required).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a veterinary hospital (preferred).
