Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Location: Gig Harbor, Washington 98335
Salary: $18-25/hr
Are you a veterinary assistant with a passion for helping animals and keeping your cool when things get hectic? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where your quick thinking can save the day? If you said "Yes!" (or even just "Heck yeah!"), we want YOU to join our crew!
At Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty & Emergency we’re looking for a veterinary assistant who’s ready to jump in with both paws—whether it’s assisting in emergency treatments, comforting stressed-out pet parents, or making sure every treatment plan is executed perfectly. We are a team-oriented, compassionate group that values creativity, and we need a skilled veterinary assistant who shares our drive to provide exceptional care to every pet, every time.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a veterinary assistant, you’ll be an integral part of our team, helping us provide emergency care with precision and heart. You’ll assist in a variety of treatments—administering medications, setting up IV catheters, performing CPR, and even handling wound care with grace under pressure. When animals are in distress, you’ll be right there, using your team-oriented communication skills to collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and clients. You’ll also be responsible for assessing an animal's temperament, ensuring safe handling and restraint, and multitasking like a pro in critical care situations. We need someone who stays calm, cool, and collected during high-stress moments. After all, that’s what a true veterinary assistant does!
The Schedule:
We offer flexible shifts (because animals don’t sleep), including Day, Swing, and Overnight options. Weekends are required, and you’ll likely be working a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. But don’t worry, we promise there’s never a dull moment, and you’ll get to bond with a team-oriented and compassionate crew who’s all about having each other’s backs.
What We’re Looking For:
You should have at least 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant, with a solid understanding of veterinary medical terminology and emergency procedures. Being able to think quickly, assist in critical care situations, and communicate effectively with the team is a must. You should also be physically fit and able to handle lifting animals, standing for long periods, and performing repetitive tasks. But, most importantly, you need to bring your team-oriented spirit to work every day and be ready to collaborate with a dynamic crew that loves working together.
