Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. in Providence, RI is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and provide outstanding customer service to owners.

You will greet clients, record medical histories, assist doctors with exams, surgeries, dentistry, anesthesia, and post-procedure care, while maintaining EMRs and a clean hospital environment. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year veterinary experience and strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, measure weight and vital signs, and document in EMR.
• Assist doctors with exams, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients, collect samples, dispense medications as directed, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, and update patient records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist during anesthesia and recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and monitor vitals as directed by veterinarians.
• Train new staff and contribute to a clean, well-maintained hospital environment.
