Williamsburg Animal Clinic in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This full-time role requires rotating Saturdays and close collaboration with veterinarians and technicians to ensure compassionate, high-quality care for pets.

You will assist with animal restraint, sample collection, lab work, radiography, client education, and maintaining a clean, organized clinic. Strong communication and multitasking in a fast-paced setting are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required.
• Strong animal handling skills and comfort with a variety of species.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow directions closely.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina to lift and carry animals and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.
• Maintain a clean, disinfected clinic by sanitizing equipment and kennels.
• Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are stocked and organized.
• Greet and assist clients, helping them feel welcome and comfortable.
• Escort clients and pets to exam rooms and gather medical history.
• Provide support during medical procedures and monitor animal well-being.
• Prepare and label laboratory samples, following proper protocols.
• Assist with radiography by positioning animals and operating equipment under supervision.
• Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and post-operative instructions.
• Keep detailed records of patient care and treatments.
• Assist with inventory management and maintain organized storage.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
