Job summary

NVA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for a full-time, in-person role in Fresno, California. Shifts run 9am-6pm, 11am-8pm, or 12pm-9pm with rotating Saturdays and Sundays as part of the schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians during exams, medication administration, anesthesia support, radiographs, dental cleanings, lab work, and patient care from intake to discharge.

• Capability to manage physical and emotional aspects of veterinary clinic work, including euthanasia.

Responsibilities

• Assists the veterinarian during examinations and provides restraint as needed.
• Prepares and administers medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments as prescribed.
• Performs routine dental cleanings under veterinarian direction.
• Assists with anesthesia and monitors patient responses.
• Obtains radiographs with proper positioning and technique.
• Care for animals recovering from surgery and monitor progress.
• Performs lab tests to aid diagnosis and treatment.
• Provides emergency first aid when needed.
• Collects and labels samples for lab testing and culture.
• Maintains clean and sterile instruments and treatment areas.
• Prepares animals for surgery and assists during procedures.
• Works with veterinarians to ensure efficient patient flow.
