Job summary
VCA Lancaster Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our general practice team. You will be involved in every patient’s care from intake to discharge, assisting with exams, procedures, and diagnostics while helping keep the hospital running smoothly.
Compensation: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour, dependent on experience and skill set. Potential Schedule: Full-time with Saturday rotation. Learn more at vcahospitals.com/lancaster.
Qualifications
- Experienced Veterinary Assistant in a general practice setting.
- Ability to assist with exams, procedures, and diagnostics.
- Strong teamwork with veterinarians and technicians.
Responsibilities
- Monitors hospitalized patients, reporting changes in vital signs to the team.
- Supports pharmacy-related tasks, treatments, procedures, and diagnostics.
- Prepares treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgical suites maintaining cleanliness and sterility.
- Supports patient husbandry including feeding, walking, cage cleaning, bedding changes, and comfort care.
- Assists with laboratory procedures and basic diagnostic testing.
- Administers medications and maintains accurate patient records.
- Assists with client communication, education, and coordination for intake and discharge.
- Communicates clearly with veterinarians, technicians, and the care team to maintain smooth workflow.
- Stays calm and efficient across a variety of cases and species.
