Job summary

District Veterinary Hospital – Navy Yard in Washington, DC seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join a four-doctor practice. Full-time, three 10-hour shifts, every other Saturday. Compensation $20–$24/hour with 80 hours PTO.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with IV catheter placement.
• Proficiency with venipuncture and animal restraint.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• Knowledge of core and lifestyle vaccine protocols.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Surgical experience - monitoring anesthesia (advantage).

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care and hands‑on assistance to the medical team.
• Be the go‑to support for the medical team to ensure smooth workflow.
• Create a positive client experience through scheduling, payments, and communications.
