Job description

We are looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! The SPCA is a for-all, open admission animal shelter. In this role, you’ll support the medical team in delivering compassionate care to animals, assist with treatments and surgeries, and help maintain a clean and organized clinic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures.

Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of medical staff.

Help prepare animals for surgery and support their post-operative recovery.

Maintain a clean and sanitary treatment, surgery, and recovery area.

Record treatments and observations accurately in PetPoint shelter software.

Assist with the humane euthanasia process.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in animal care or a veterinary setting preferred.

Comfortable handling animals safely and compassionately.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced shelter environment.

Florida Euthanasia Technician Certification within 6 months of employment.
