Job summary

Holly Vet Clinic in Kenmore, Washington, is hiring an experienced full-time Veterinary Assistant to support busy daily appointments and surgical procedures. You will monitor anesthesia, restrain small animals, place IV catheters, perform venipuncture, run IDEXX in-house diagnostics, and administer medications under veterinary direction while delivering professional client communication.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary assistant experience is required.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring, animal restraint, IV catheter placement and venipuncture.
• IDEXX laboratory experience preferred.
• Must communicate professionally with clients and work effectively as part of a veterinary team; able to lift approximately 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient histories.
• Assist with veterinary appointments and vaccinations.
• Communicate with pet owners.
• Monitor patients under anesthesia.
• Safely restrain canine and feline patients.
• Place IV catheters.
• Perform venipuncture.
• Perform IDEXX in-house laboratory diagnostics.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Assist with nail trims and anal gland expressions.
• Maintain accurate veterinary medical records.
• Prepare patients and clinical areas for procedures.
• Maintain clean and organized examination, treatment and surgical areas.
