Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and educate clients. The role includes handling surgical prep, lab work, radiographs, and medication administration in a busy clinic.

Qualifications include weekend availability and prior veterinary experience preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, with emphasis on client service and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Lift up to 25 pounds; assist for heavier lifts.
• OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math for medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, MS Office familiarity.
• Strong communication to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in animal medical care and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital lab tests; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per vet instruction.
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and labs clean and stocked; assist team with cleanliness.
