Job summary

Council Veterinary Hospital in Bethany, Oklahoma is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. This versatile assistant will contribute to patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures, while building strong relationships with families.

We offer a competitive pay range of $16 - $18 per hour with options for full- or part-time schedules, plus benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in veterinary assistant or related role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication with clients and team.
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely.

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Monitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team.
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
