Job summary

Forest Grove Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team, supporting clients and patients across hospital care, including patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

You will prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas, maintain medical records, review plans with clients, and educate pet owners while maintaining clean exam and procedural spaces. Benefits include health, retirement, and PTO options.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
• Venipuncture and injections
• Radiology positioning and safety protocols
• Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
• Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing

Responsibilities

• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
