Job summary

Clarks Grove Veterinary Clinic in Clarks Grove, MN is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, monitor hospitalized pets, manage inventory, and assist with surgeries and exams.

The role requires basic math, computer skills, and strong communication. Weekend availability is required; pay is $18.00 per hour, with benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with heavier loads.
• Follows OSHA safety practices including PPE.
• Basic math and dosage calculations.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office.
• Strong communication to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and surgery.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights in outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Collect and process samples, perform in-house tests, and prep for outside labs.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and assist with client education.
• Communicate with the team and clients regarding patient plans and concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
