Job summary

Foothill Farms Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our caring team in Sacramento. You’ll rotate between technician appointments and exams, assisting with procedures and maintaining patient records.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
• Physical ability to stand, bend, lift and restrain patients safely
• Familiarity with Cornerstone software and Fear Free Certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
• Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Supporting veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care
• Building positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service
