Minnieville Animal Hospital in Woodbridge, VA, part of the Suveto network, is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. The role supports veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced clinic, handling exams, client communication, venipuncture, in-house labs, and patient care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or similar setting is preferred.
• High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members.
• Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
• Take history from client and document observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventative care and follow-up.
• Communicate patient or client concerns to the veterinary team.
• Assist with venipuncture, in-house labs, and outside lab forms.
• Provide nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients as directed.
• Admit and discharge patients following protocols and educate owners.
• Clean, restock, and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Operate practice software for medications, patient records, and labels.
• Follow OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
• Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.
