Veterinary Assistant experienced - Part Time

VCA Powder Paws Animal Hospital in Park City, Utah is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant, with a minimum of 2 years experience as a room tech, to join our one-of-a-kind 6-doctor small animal practice!

Our clinic is getting ready to expand to include more exam rooms. A willingness to take on more responsibilities as we grow and a team-player attitude are a must! We are a paperless clinic that uses the VCA Woofware scheduling system.

The successful candidate will believe in high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. We cross-train all technicians to work at the reception area to understand the clinic as a whole and support one another. Must be available to work half-day Saturdays on a rotating basis.

In this position, you will support our Doctors, Technician, and CSR team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Attentive and warm customer service in person, over the phone/text, and via email
  2. Management of busy phone lines
  3. Scheduling of appointments and surgeries
  4. Entering labs and following up with clients
  5. Filling prescriptions
  6. Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
  7. Learning veterinary diets and educating clients about them
  8. Checking in/out patients for appointments, surgeries, acupuncture, and rehab
  9. Keeping detailed notes regarding clients and patients
  10. Money handling and invoicing
  11. Communicating with other industry professionals
  12. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
  13. Assisting with charts and entering charges
  14. Handling and restraining dogs and cats for procedures
  15. Assisting surgery and veterinary technicians with restraining animals
  16. Preparing surgical packs, inducing, and monitoring anesthesia
  17. Cleaning instruments and surgical equipment, walking hospitalized animals, and cleaning kennels
