Job summary

VCA Powder Paws Animal Hospital in Park City, Utah, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant with previous clinic experience to join our 6-doctor small animal practice. You will support doctors, technicians, and CSR team while helping create a positive, low-stress environment for clients and patients, including some reception cross-training and rotating Saturdays.

Responsibilities include patient intake, scheduling, labs, imaging, vaccines, and gentle handling of dogs and cats.

Qualifications

  • Previous clinic experience required.
  • Ability to work rotating Saturday half-days.
  • Full-time schedule with rotating Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide warm customer service in person, over the phone/text, and via email.
  • Manage busy phone lines.
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries.
  • Enter labs and follow up with clients.
  • Fill prescriptions.
  • Perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
  • Educate clients about veterinary diets.
  • Check in/out patients for appointments, surgeries, acupuncture and rehab.
  • Keep detailed notes regarding clients and patients.
  • Communicate with other industry professionals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with charts and entering charges.
  • Handle and restrain dogs and cats for procedures.
  • Assist surgery and veterinary technicians with restraining animals, vaccines, fluids, nail trims, anal gland expression, blood draws and more.
  • Use devices to perform hands free radiographs.
  • Prepare surgical packs, induce and monitor anesthesia.
  • Clean instruments and kennels.

Job description

VCA Powder Paws Animal Hospital, located in Park City, Utah, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant with previous clinic experience in a similar role to join our one-of-a-kind 6-doctor small animal practice!

Full-time: rotating Saturdays are required

Pay: $19.00 -$22.00/hr.

Location: Park City, UT

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. We cross train all technicians to work at the reception area to understand the clinic as a whole and support one another. Must be available to work half day Saturdays on a rotating basis.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors, Technician and CSR team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

  • Assisting surgery and veterinary technicians with restraining animals, administering vaccines, fluids, nail trims, anal gland expression, blood draws and more,
  • Use devices to perform hands free radiographs,
  • Preparing surgical packs, inducing and monitoring anesthesia
  • Cleaning instruments and surgical equipment, walking hospitalized animals and cleaning kennels.
