Join Our Team as a Veterinary Assistant - Equine at Helen Woodward Animal Center

We are seeking a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant - Equine to join our team. This position requires availability on days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.

Compensation: $18.75 per hour

About the Role

The Veterinary Assistant will work with horses in a veterinary setting, assisting with various medical procedures and tasks. Responsibilities include admitting patients, completing paperwork, monitoring hospitalized horses, assisting with diagnostic procedures, surgeries, emergencies, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role also involves keeping horses exercised, groomed, fed, watered, and stalls cleaned, along with ensuring hospital cleanliness and stock levels.

Position Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-stress, multi-doctor environment.
  • Excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of equine husbandry and restraint, with the ability to catch and restrain horses of various dispositions.
  • Supervision of hospital volunteers.
  • Ability to safely lift objects up to 50 lbs and assist with lifting objects up to 1000 lbs.
  • Desire to attend veterinary school and extensive horse experience are preferred.

Position is entry-level, part-time, with a focus on health care provision.
