Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department.

Pay:

$19.00 - $28.00/hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, based on a 4-hour minimum. Examples include:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, side effects, and monitor therapeutic responses.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Conduct physical exams, including vital signs and mucous membrane assessments.
• Assist with anesthesia and monitoring for ASA I or II classified patients.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency as assigned.
