Heart of Texas Veterinary ER & Specialty Center in Round Rock, TX is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team. You will perform hands-on patient support, assist in procedures, and help with triage, examinations, and client communication during emergencies.

We offer full-time hours including Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays with shifts spanning day and night coverage. Starting pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials, with a focus on growth

Qualifications

• Experience in a veterinary practice is preferred.
• Ability to safely handle animals during exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Proficiency in basic patient care and medical record documentation.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Strong communication and client service during emergencies.

• Safely restrain patients during exams, treatments, and procedures.

Veterinary Assistant – Emergency

Heart of Texas

Round Rock, TX

Full-time: Sunday and Monday 12pm-12am and Wednesday 4pm-4am.

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $18/hour. The final pay will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About You

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting urgent and critical patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital. Your work will include hands‑on patient support, safe animal restraint, triage assistance, outpatient treatments, laboratory sample collection, diagnostic support, patient monitoring, and compassionate client service during emergency visits, admissions, and discharges.

Role Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

• Assisting with basic patient care and husbandry, including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining patient comfort
• Safely handling and restraining patients during exams, treatments, and procedures
• Support accurate and timely medical record documentation
• Performing basic laboratory tests and preparing samples as directed
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked hospital environment
• Ensuring exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment are prepared and ready for patient care
• Supporting veterinarians and technicians to ensure efficient daily hospital operations

• Has knowledge of basic veterinary practices
• Able to appropriately handle animals
• Able to assist in veterinary medical procedures
• Recent experience in a veterinary practice
• Willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
