Job summary

Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital is seeking a full-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant in Latham, NY. Three 12-hour shifts per week with competitive hourly pay and overnight differential. Join a team of experienced staff and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced emergency animal hospital.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in veterinary medicine.
• Currently enrolled in or actively pursuing a Veterinary Technician program preferred.
• Understanding of animal restraint, patient handling, and safety protocols.
• Knowledge of proper sanitation, hygiene, and aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Safely restrain patients during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Provide nursing support and basic animal husbandry for hospitalized patients.
• Assist with maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Perform nail trims and suture/staple removals as directed.
• Support emergency clinicians with patient care, diagnostics, and treatments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment environment.
• Deliver compassionate care to patients and exceptional service to clients.
• Collaborate with technicians, assistants, and veterinarians to provide high-quality emergency care.

Location: Latham, NY

Schedule: Full-Time | Three 12-hour shifts per week

Compensation: $20-$25/hour + $3.50/hour overnight differential + Double Pay on holidays

Schedule

• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Shift options may include:
  • 7:00am-7:00pm
  • 7:00pm-7:00am
  • Occasional 10:00am-10:00pm
  • Occasional 2:00pm-2:00am
• Overnight and weekend availability required
