Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists - Hoffman Estates is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will support veterinarians, advocate for pets, educate clients, and help maintain smooth patient flow in a fast-paced emergency setting.

The role requires veterinary assistant experience (ER experience preferred), strong communication, and flexibility to work overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care and educate clients.

• Obtain health history from clients and manage charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques and keep areas clean and organized.

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists-Hoffman Estates is looking for an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Veterinary Assistant experience required--ER experience highly preferred
• One year or more of experience in a veterinary hospital-highly preferred
• Be professional and courteous
• Ability to multitask
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• This position requires a love of animals and the ability to warmly welcome and compassionately care for a wide variety of pets
• Flexible availability including overnights, weekends, and holidays

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $20-25/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
