PetVet Care Centers’ Bruceville Pet Hospital in Elk Grove, California is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our close-knit team. You will support veterinarians and technicians, perform patient handling, exam preparation, and assist with medical procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and compassionate environment for every pet and owner who visits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to restrain animals and monitor sedation procedures.
• Willingness to lift and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Familiarity with hospital procedures, policies, and services; patient treatment protocols; hospital computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, take weight and vital signs upon arrival.
• Triage, perform exams, treatments and administer medications as directed by licensed staff.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications or restraints.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and medical devices.
• Fill prescriptions and maintain proper documentation for controlled drugs.
• Feed and care for patients and record appetites and conditions.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness and medicines.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety protocols.
• Bath and groom patients staying overnight and ensure clean releases.
• Maintain accurate medical records and observe safety policies.
• Show up for full-time shifts and support hospital operations.
