Job summary

Annenberg PetSpace's Veterinary Assistant supports the medical team at the PetSpace Health Center, assisting with vaccines, exams, and offsite clinic events. You will help with patient care, restraints, medication administration, and clinical setup while ensuring compassionate handling of animals.

The role also involves community vaccine clinics, delivering preventative care education, and maintaining medical records in collaboration with the veterinary team.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a veterinary, animal shelter, or animal care setting preferred.
• Experience assisting with animal restraint, patient care, treatments, and routine veterinary procedures preferred.
• Experience preparing and administering medications as directed by a veterinarian preferred.
• Experience assisting with blood collection, laboratory procedures, and intravenous catheter placement preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical and inventory records.
• Knowledge of biosafety standards and hazardous waste handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with intake, examinations, vaccines, and in-house diagnostics under supervision.
• Prepare animals for surgery and assist with surgical procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of radiology, treatment, prep, recovery, and surgery areas.
