East & West Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team in San Marcos, CA. You will assist with patient restraint, triage, lab work, imaging, and nursing care, while explaining treatment plans to clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Saturday shifts are required for this position.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, and processing laboratory tests.
• Confident and safe animal handling and restraint skills.
• Compassionate, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
• Motivated self-starter with a desire to continue growing knowledge and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging.
• Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
• Administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
• Surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
