Position Overview
The veterinary assistant provides support to veterinarians and technicians by maintaining equipment, feeding, grooming patients, preparing surgery suites, handling patients, and performing clerical work. They ensure quality care and excellent service.
Essential Functions
- Provide compassionate care to all patients.
- Greet patients and owners, record vital signs.
- Assist with physical exams, treatments, and medication under supervision.
- Calm and soothe anxious patients.
- Assist with medication administration and restraint.
- Perform lab tests and take radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment.
- Fill prescriptions, administer medications, and maintain records.
- Feed patients, monitor conditions, and report abnormalities.
- Communicate positively with clients, educate them about services.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety standards.
- Groom and care for patients overnight.
- Follow safety and procedural guidelines.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Attend work regularly; full-time presence is essential.
- Promote hospital services and support organizational goals.
- Respond promptly to directions from DVMs and LVTs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including specialty tasks if applicable.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of veterinary experience
- Vet Tech (VTNE) certification preferred
- Experience with surgical monitoring, radiology, dental prophylaxis, and client education preferred
Position Requirements

- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Additional Information
