Heart of Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital – Ft. Greene in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining patients, and handling clerical work.

Qualifications

• Must have 2 or more years of veterinary experience.
• Proficient in blood draws, catheter placement, radiology, and medication administration.
• Applicants must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by examinations, reviewing care plans, taking lab tests and imaging.
• Care for patients by monitoring vital signs, collecting samples, administering meds, vaccines, and wound care.
• Support examinations by preparing supplies, moving patients to rooms, and restraining as directed by the vet.
• Maintain patient records and communicate status to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
• Ensure clean, stocked exam rooms; sterilize instruments and maintain sterile supplies.
