Job summary

Destination Pet LLC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join Kings Crossing Animal Hospital in Humble, TX. You will assist veterinarians, help with nursing care, manage patient restraint, and support front desk tasks while ensuring a welcoming environment for clients and pets.

The role requires animal handling, lab procedures, blood draws, and comfort with a flexible schedule including weekends. A high school diploma and 2+ years of clinic experience are required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
  • High school diploma.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to work on computer system and work multi-line telephone.
  • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
  • Must be comfortable restraining animals during medical examinations.
  • Experience with blood draws, IV catheter placement, and laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Filling prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explaining prescription directions.
  • Assisting receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and providing telephone support.
  • Performing various laboratory tests.
  • Keeping our facilities clean and well maintained.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Kings Crossing Animal Hospital!

PAY

$16 - $18.00/hour DOE.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)
  • Ensuring that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Expertise & Experience: 2+ years of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
  • High school diploma.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to work on computer system and work multi-line telephone.
  • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
  • Must be comfortable restraining animals during medical examinations.
  • Must have experience working in a veterinary clinic.
  • Proficient in patient restraint and handling.
  • Experience with blood draws, IV catheter placement, and laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Some knowledge of anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
  • Surgery experience a plus - must be willing to learn inpatient procedures.
