Job summary

Destination Pet LLC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for BrownDog Lodge Veterinary Clinic in the United States. The role requires 1+ years of clinic experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
• Must work on computer system and multi-line telephone.
• Must handle dogs on leashes.
• Must tolerate exposure to disinfectants, animal dander and excretions.
• Must be comfortable restraining animals during examinations.
• Weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and pets to make them feel welcome and comfortable.
• Assist veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care.
• Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Fill prescriptions per veterinarian directions and explain usage.
• Assist receptionists with check-in/out and phone support.
• Perform laboratory tests as needed.
• Keep the facility clean and well maintained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensuring that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
• Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintaining accurate medical records.
• Filling prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explaining prescription directions.
• Assisting receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and providing telephone support.
• Performing various laboratory tests.
• Keeping our facilities clean and well maintained.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
