Small Door Inc. is seeking a veterinary assistant to join our compassionate, patient-centered team across our modern clinics. You will support doctors, perform routine nursing tasks, monitor patient vitals, prepare samples, and help with tele-triage shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years as a veterinary assistant.
• Weekend availability required (Sat or Sun).
• Proficient with computers and online tools.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient handling.
• Excellent client communication and empathy for pets.

Responsibilities

• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses and assist accordingly.
• Assess patients and record vitals with accuracy.
• Assist doctors with diagnostics and treatments.
• Prepare samples and run in-house labs where needed.
• Administer medications and prepare medications for use.
• Support tele-triage shifts as needed.
• Maintain a hospitable clinic environment and assist radiography.
• Collaborate with team to ensure high-quality patient care.

What you'll do

• Knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies and illnesses

• Assessing patients

• Recording vitals and assisting doctors with diagnostics

• Completing treatments as instructed by the doctor

• Basic husbandry and nursing care

• Monitoring changes in patients and providing compassionate care

• Assisting in and facilitating radiography capture

• Preparing samples for outside reference labs

• Running in-house labs

• Preparing medications

• Administering medications

• Working tele-triage shifts (additional stipend)

• Additional responsibilities to maintain a hospitable environment

Who you are

• 2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant

• Availability to work weekends (Saturday or Sunday)

• Comfortable with computers and online tools

• Strong enough to lift 50 lbs

• A thoughtful and fearless team player
