More About The Role
The Veterinary Assistant assists veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assists with surgical procedures.
Please note: Previous experience in veterinary hospital required. Must be able to work weekdays and weekends.
Work Schedule
Open 7 days a week!
- Mon – Fri: 7 AM-6 PM
- Sat & Sun: 8 AM-6 PM
Pay range: $15 - $18

Essential Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with medical and surgical tasks.
- Help with outpatient exams, including history taking, vital signs, and client education.
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs.
- Obtain and process laboratory samples, perform tests, and prepare specimens.
- Take and develop radiographs following safety protocols.
- Handle and restrain animals during exams.
- Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
- Provide compassionate client and patient interactions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Ability to work weekends as required.
- Previous veterinary experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assistance needed for heavier lifts.
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
- Basic math skills for medication calculations.
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office.
- Strong communication skills for patient safety.
