More About The Role
The Veterinary Assistant assists veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assists with surgical procedures.

Hours of operation: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Pay range: $16 - $17

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical tasks
• Help with outpatient exams, take histories, vital signs, weights, and educate clients
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs
• Obtain samples, perform lab tests, and prepare specimens
• Take and develop radiographs safely
• Handle and restrain animals during exams
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, labs, and equipment
• Provide compassionate interactions with clients and patients
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients
• Perform any other duties as assigned

Requirements/Qualifications

• Previous veterinary experience preferred
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds independently, over 25 pounds with assistance
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE
• Basic math skills for medication calculations
• Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office
• Strong communication skills for patient safety
